As you may or may not know my name is Bre, short for Breanne, and this is my blog Somewhere With a Suitcase! I’m a full time registered nurse from Kentucky with a love for nature, dogs, and food + coffee. I’ve created this blog to not only highlight the adventures I go on for my personal reflection, but to provide travel tips, tricks, and inspiration as well. Before we dive into all things travel, I’d love to share a little about me!
As mentioned above, I’m a registered nurse and have been doing that for four years. I currently work in a post anesthesia setting and hope to one day work as a travel nurse so I can get paid to do what I love the most–travel! Working in an inpatient setting allows for extreme schedule flexibility as I only work three days a week and set my own schedule, making it incredibly easy to take trips regularly without using PTO!
While on vacations, I love to immerse myself in nature, try local eats + coffee shops, and scout for cute pups that are out and about. I feel that our planet is full of natural beauty and life is too short to not go out and see as much of it as possible. Therefore, you can find me hiking, biking, and kayaking on all of my trips! And what better way to fuel + refuel for those adventurous activities? Trying local eats + coffee shops, of course! Why eat at a restaurant that’s in your hometown when you have a chance to explore different flavors? Of course, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do and if that means eating McDonalds at 11 PM because it’s the only thing open then lemme get a mcdouble (no pickle) with extra fries please.
Aside from exploring nature and eating all the delicious food, I find so much JOY in looking at and petting (with owners permission) all the cute pups I see out living their best lives. I have three dogs, two corgis and a husky, who I often have to leave behind on trips. I miss them so much while I’m gone, so it’s comforting being able to enjoy the presence of other peoples dogs. If you’re a dog lover or have pets of your own, I’m sure you understand. I often find myself at dog parks or in dog friendly areas where you can see a pup on every corner, sometimes it’s the highlight of my day (especially if they look like one of my babies).
So, there you have it. A little bit about me. I’m excited for this adventure we’re about to embark on together and I hope you stick around for more. You never know, you just may find your next vacation in the pages of this blog ;). Happy travels, everyone!
til the next trip,
bre
